H.E. FM Receives Call from His Iranian Counterpart H.E. Abbas Araghchi

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received, on Monday, 15 June 2026, a telephone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Abbas Araghchi.

During the call, H.E. Mr. Abbas Araghchi expressed his appreciation and gratitude to H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein for the efforts he made throughout the various stages of the process to help bridge differences between the parties. H.E. also extended his thanks to the Iraqi Government and the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their role in supporting efforts aimed at ensuring the success of this process.

For his part, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein conveyed his personal congratulations to H.E. Mr. Abbas Araghchi and to the negotiating delegations of both sides, in recognition of the considerable efforts undertaken to reach understandings that contribute to enhancing security and stability in the region.

The Minister stressed the importance of working towards a complete end to the state of war, enabling the countries of the region to focus on economic reconstruction and development efforts, in a manner that serves the interests of their peoples and enhances prospects for stability and prosperity.

At the conclusion of the call, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein renewed his congratulations and expressed his appreciation to the Iranian Foreign Minister for maintaining continuous communication and keeping the Iraqi side informed of the progress of the negotiations throughout the past period.
