Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Receives French Ambassador to Iraq

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received on Monday, 11 May 2026, the Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Iraq, , in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and avenues to enhance them across various fields in a manner that serves mutual interests. They also emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between Iraq and France on issues of common concern.

The discussions also addressed political and security developments in the region and the current regional tensions, with both sides stressing the importance of adopting dialogue and diplomatic means in addressing crises, in order to contribute to enhancing regional security and stability.

H.E. the Minister also reviewed the ongoing political movement and dialogues among national forces to form the new government, emphasizing the importance of supporting pathways of political consensus in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the Iraqi people and enhances internal stability.
