Foreign Minister Discusses with His Qatari Counterpart Ways to Halt Escalation in the Region

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received a phone call on Monday, 2 March 2026, from H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

During the call, the two sides exchanged views on developments in the region and the repercussions of the current escalation, with both condemning the attacks targeting Iraq and Qatar and stressing the urgent need to halt these aggressions immediately.

They also emphasized the importance of keeping the region out of the fire of this war and the necessity of joint efforts to contain the escalation and create suitable conditions for its cessation, thereby contributing to the enhancement of regional security and stability.
