The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq welcomes the decision of the Swiss government to lift the travel ban imposed on a number of Iraqi cities. As a first step, the decision includes Baghdad, Basra, Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf, Babil, and the Holy City of Karbala, in addition to the Kurdistan Region, as a result of the continuous diplomatic efforts exerted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, in close coordination with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the relevant competent authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq affirms that this decision reflects the growing international confidence in the security conditions and stability witnessed in Iraqi cities. It also represents a positive step toward strengthening bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Swiss Confederation, and expanding horizons of joint cooperation in various fields.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq further commends the constructive cooperation of the Swiss side, reaffirming its commitment to continuing diplomatic efforts in a manner that serves mutual interests and promotes Iraq’s positive image on the international stage.
