Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Meets Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the Sidelines of the Doha Forum

On Sunday, 7 December, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met with H.E. Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, the former Iranian Foreign Minister, during his participation in the 23rd edition of the Doha Forum.

The meeting included an exchange of views on regional and international developments, particularly the challenges facing the Middle East that require strengthening dialogue channels and reducing tensions. H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein reviewed the latest political developments in Iraq, including the ongoing political movement to form the new government and the initiatives aimed at reinforcing political stability.

The two sides also discussed general issues of mutual interest and the role of diplomacy in supporting regional stability, emphasizing the importance of peaceful solutions and prioritizing the language of understanding in addressing the region’s crises.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties stressed the need to halt escalation and adopt constructive dialogue in a manner that contributes to strengthening regional security and stability.
