H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Chairs the Meeting of the High National Committee Formed Pursuant to Diwani Order No. (25502)

On Thursday, 27 November 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein chaired the meeting of the High National Committee tasked with examining the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s decision of 9 October 2025 to list a number of entities and individuals on its lists.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the attendance of the Prime Minister’s Advisor and the Committee’s members representing the relevant ministries and government bodies.

The meeting discussed addressed the measures taken by the relevant authorities and the proposed mechanisms for addressing the issues raised, both domestically and internationally.

The meeting also witnessed extensive deliberations on the available legal options and tools in this regard, with an emphasis on continuing to hold further meetings in the coming period and preparing subsequent sessions to host additional relevant authorities to follow up on developments related to this file.

H.E. the Minister affirmed the importance of preserving the strength of Iraq’s international financial relations, continuing the implementation of economic reform programs, and reinforcing the principles of good governance in line with Iraq’s higher national interests.
