FM Receives EU Ambassador and European Ambassadors Accredited to Iraq

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Klemens Semtner, accompanied by a number of European ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Iraq, at the Ministry’s headquarters. The ambassadors extended their congratulations to H.E. the Minister on the occasion of the renewal of confidence in him as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, H.E. the Minister reviewed the Iraqi government’s vision and priorities for the upcoming phase, particularly regarding the joint files with the EU, emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation and developing mechanisms for joint coordination in a manner that serves mutual interests.

H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein also addressed the Iraqi government’s priorities at the international level, outlining Iraq’s position on the current regional developments, as well as the government’s efforts to support security and stability and to promote paths of regional and international dialogue and cooperation.
