Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Receives the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Ms. Janet Alberda.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, along with avenues to strengthen and develop them across various fields, with particular emphasis on enhancing cooperation in investment and between businessmen, in a manner that serves their mutual interests.

The two sides also discussed preparations for the visit of H.E. the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Iraq, as well as the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries.

The meeting further tackled prospects for economic cooperation and explored opportunities to establish partnerships with Dutch companies, contributing to supporting development pathways and enhancing joint cooperation.
In addition, the ongoing steps to form the government within the framework of constitutional entitlements were discussed.
