Press Statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq welcomes the decision of the Italian government to conduct a partial review of its travel guidance for Italian citizens wishing to visit the Republic of Iraq, in light of the positive security developments witnessed across Iraqi cities.
The Ministry affirms that this decision reflects an objective assessment of the noticeable improvement in the security situation, contributes to strengthening international confidence, and supports prospects for bilateral cooperation in the tourism, economic, and cultural fields, in addition to encouraging visits and exchanges between the two friendly countries.
This positive development follows the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, to the Italian capital, Rome, and the constructive discussions held with his Italian counterpart, which addressed overall bilateral relations and underscored the importance of enhancing joint cooperation, particularly with regard to assessing security conditions and facilitating travel between the two countries.
The Ministry reiterates its commitment to continuing to work with international partners in a manner that enhances stability and consolidates Iraq’s position as a safe destination for visitors.
