Press Statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq expresses its condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted a joint patrol of the Syrian internal security forces and U.S. forces near the city of Palmyra, resulting in a number of casualties.

The Ministry affirms that terrorism continues to constitute a serious and imminent threat to the security and stability of the region, which necessitates enhancing coordination and cooperation at both regional and international levels to confront it, and eradicate its sources.

The Ministry also emphasizes that the Iraqi people have been among those most affected by the crimes of terrorism, making it imperative to continue joint efforts and intensify collective action to combat this scourge, prevent its return, and protect regional and international peace and security.
