Press Statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deep gratitude and appreciation for the congratulations extended by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. António Guterres, on the successful conduct of the 2025 parliamentary elections in Iraq, and for his affirmation of support for the path of democracy and the consolidation of stability in the country.

The Ministry also conveys its thanks and appreciation to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), H.E. Mr. Mohamed El Hassan, for his supportive role in accompanying the electoral process.

The Ministry commends the valuable efforts undertaken by the United Nations Mission in Iraq, which contributed to enhancing the transparency of the electoral process and ensuring its successful organization in accordance with international standards.

The Ministry affirms Iraq’s continued cooperation with the United Nations and its institutions in support of the goals of stability, development, and the strengthening of democratic practices in Iraq.
