Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, met on Thursday, 10 July 2025, with the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Iraq Ambassador Steven H. Fagin.

The meeting focused on recent political developments in Iraq, particularly the relations between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, with attaching special importance on the financial challenges and related issues.

The two sides also discussed the situation of American companies operating in the Kurdistan Region and the ongoing discussions between Baghdad and Erbil regarding the management of oil extracted from fields located within the region. Minister Hussein emphasized the importance of reaching realistic solutions that ensure fair management of national resources and serve the broader interests of Iraq.

The Minister reiterated the Iraqi government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the United States across various areas and to supporting political and economic stability in Iraq in a way that serves the shared national interests of both countries.
